Non-working networking in failover\failback Linux devices.

Non-working networking in failover\failback Linux devices.

Challenge

Non-working networking in failover\failback Linux devices.

Cause

The issue may appear due to the naming of interfaces in Linux. Interface names are based on the NIC type used, so while switching hypervisor (for a Cloud Site or a failback) it's common to see different names for default NIC in VM.

Solution

1. Find the name of the interface inside a target machine(Cloud Site or Failback VM)
2. Go to the source machine (Cloud Site or replicated VM) and create a configuration for a network interface name found in step 1.
3. Do incremental sync or incremental backup and create a new Cloud Site. Your virtual machine will have the network interface configured.
